International 2005
Lower Huron, Michigan
Well, I'd be lying if I said this camp was a success. We arrived to Lower Huron at 11:30am Friday morning. After we set up all our gear, it started to rain. Not a very hard, but just a little. At about 5o'clock, people started to show up. They had to set up in the rain.
Later that night every group went around to the different camp sites and mingled. We met new people and made new memories. As the night grew darker, the rain grew heavier along with the winds.
Early Saturday morning a couple hours after mid-night, it began to storm. The thunder was loud, the rain was heavy, the winds were strong, and the air grew cool.
Saturday we played the events but 2 were canceled because of the weather. By lunch, we were told the camp leaders told us we should go home. By 2o'clock, we were to expect winds up to 30m/h, and 7" of snow by morning. Nobody was prepared for this weather. The 45th Venturers were prepared to sleep in our leaders truck if we were made to stay. The boys in the box (with a cap) and the girls in the cabin. It was so cold and so wet the Venturer troop did want to cook, we were going to eat when we got home, but Scouter John and the other Scouters was cooking lunch for their scouts, so they said we can eat there too.
By 4o'clock everybody but one troop was gone.
There's always October
