International 2005
Friday
We started to arrive at Jellystone about 4pm. When we arrived we finished setting up camp and saying hi to the staff and other leaders. That night we just lounged around and exchanged stories. This camp was really fun because Scouter Mike and Scouter Jim were there (the leaders who came with us on our summer trip to Elora Gorge).
Saturday
Rise and Shine at 7am. We didn't get up until 8-8:30though. Mike cooked breakfast this morning. He cooked pancakes. They didn't taste very good so we didn't eat them, we ate eggs from the staffs breakfast.
After breakfast and Flag Break, we were told to report to Scouter Jim because he wanted us to run one of the games; The Obstacle Course. It was fun the before lunch because all the groups came all at once.
Lunch was fun too. We cooked it on the Dutch Oven. It was Hamburgers. We had to cook all our meals on the Dutch Oven except breakfast. I thought it was a new experience.
After lunch it got boring at the station because most of the kids already finished it.
After dinner and we had a camp fire and everybody was coming and going. Scouter Jim, Scout Mike, Scouter Mildred, Scouter Dave, and many others. There was a few of us sitting around the fire with Scouter Mike when all of a sudden about 6 leaders came walking up behind us looking like they were coming over to yell at us or something. The walked right up behind Scouter Mike and a women came out of no where with a pillow under her shirt pretending she was pregnant and yelled at Mike asking him why he just left in the middle of the night and didn't call. )This was just a joke, they had never met before).
Scouts Own was at 8pm. It was the standard scouts church service, but after wards, we had to walk outside in a single file to the road. On the ground there was words written with tea candle in front of them so we could see what they said. Every word said something that a scout is. "Cheerful", "Honest", "Trustworthy", etc.
Mildred tripped in a hole and hurt her ankle. She couldn't walk on it. She scrapped her and and her one knee too.
After the night just carried on with laughter and corny jokes.
Sunday
Sunday morning was breakfast then the flag raise. After that we were all sent back to camp to get all our gear packed and in the vehicles. About 9am Mildred went to the hospital for her ankle and left about 4pm. She's ok though, nothing broken.
So, all in all, this weekend was fun... From my opinion, I think this was the best International so far. We had about 300 people show up. This was the first year in a long time where the Canadian troops out number the American troops.
